Welcome

The Surf Window is a surf community app built for surfers who travel, explore, and connect. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

Your account

You're responsible for your account and everything that happens under it. Keep your sign-in secure. One account per person. If we find duplicate or fake accounts, we may remove them.

Your content

You own what you post. Photos, reviews, journal entries, trip posts, they're yours. By posting them on The Surf Window, you give us permission to display them within the app. We won't use your content outside the app without asking.

Don't post content that isn't yours. Don't post anything illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or harassing. Don't spam. Don't impersonate other people. Don't post commercial advertisements without permission.

We can remove content that violates these terms. If someone repeatedly violates the rules, we can suspend or delete their account.

Secret spots

Secret spots you mark as private are visible only to you. Spots shared with crew are visible only to mutual crew members. We take this seriously. We will never make private spots public or share their locations.

Surf conditions data

Conditions data on The Surf Window comes from Open-Meteo and other public sources. It's informational only. Don't rely on it as your sole source for safety decisions. Always check local conditions, know your limits, and use your own judgment in the water.

We are not responsible for the accuracy of conditions data. Ocean conditions change fast and can be dangerous. Surf at your own risk.

The community

The Surf Window is a community. Treat other surfers with respect. The same etiquette that applies in the lineup applies here. Don't be a kook.

We can remove users who harass others, post harmful content, or consistently make the community worse.

Location data

If you grant location access, we use it to show you nearby breaks. We don't track or store your location history. You can revoke location access anytime in your browser or phone settings.

Intellectual property

The Surf Window name, logo, and design are ours. The surf break database is curated from public sources including OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia. Individual break descriptions are original content.

Availability

We do our best to keep the app running, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. We may need to take the app down for maintenance. We'll try to give notice when we can.

Limitation of liability

The Surf Window is provided as-is. We're a small team building something we love for the surf community. We're not liable for damages arising from your use of the app, the accuracy of surf data, or decisions you make based on information in the app.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. If we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated terms.
