Skill Level

  • Who it's for: Beginner
  • Why: Warm water, gentle waves, and consistent swell make NSB one of Florida's best beginner spots.

Hazards

  • Blacktip and spinner sharks are extremely common, NSB leads the world in shark bite statistics (almost all minor, non-life-threatening)
  • Jellyfish seasonally
  • Crowds near the Ponce Inlet during hurricane swells

Local Tips

  • The Ponce de Leon Inlet at the south end of the beach creates the best sandbars, but also the most shark activity.
