Skill Level

  • Who it's for: Advanced
  • Why: The wave is hollow and fast over a shallow rock reef, not for surfers still developing their reef confidence.

Hazards

  • Shallow rock reef, head and back injury risk
  • Cold Humboldt Current (15–17°C full wetsuit)
  • Strong rip current alongside the reef
  • Rocky entry and exit points

Local Tips

  • Kon Tiki is best on a 5–6ft south swell, bigger than 8ft and the wave becomes aggressive and difficult to navigate.
  • The Punta Hermosa lineup is proud and territorial on quality days, arrive with respect.
