Skill Level

  • Who it's for: Intermediate–Advanced
  • Why: Heavier than Kuta or Seminyak; the rock base and faster waves require more experience.

Hazards

  • Submerged volcanic rocks at low tide
  • Rips between peaks
  • Increasingly crowded as the neighbourhood has grown in popularity

Local Tips

  • Old Man's (inside left) is the mellow option; Echo Beach (further north) is the more powerful peak, know which suits your level.
  • Go at sunrise to beat the crowd and get glassy conditions before the onshore wind arrives.
